Our History
The story of Cepa C’alua is the story of a rebirth. For centuries, the Callum grape variety was a hidden treasure among the slopes and valleys of Oleiros, discreetly surviving the passing of time. This rare grape variety, with a unique profile and unmistakable identity, was on the verge of oblivion until two passions crossed paths: that of the land and that of wine.
It was with this purpose that Cepa C’alua was born, a project dedicated to recovering and enhancing this lost jewel of Portuguese viticulture. Combining respect for tradition with an innovative approach to winemaking, we have transformed Callum into a unique experience in the glass.
Today, each bottle tells the story of its strength, authenticity and timeless elegance.

Region | Oleiros







Oleiros is more than a place – it is a landscape sculpted by time, where nature dictates the rules and wine comes to life. Located in Beira Interior, this mountainous region benefits from a unique terroir: granite soils that give freshness and minerality to the wines, and an extreme climate that gives character and structure to the grapes.
Here, Callum grape vineyards grow as living witnesses to a centuries-old tradition. Between rivers and forests, protected by a rich and pure ecosystem, they develop a distinct profile, where vibrant acidity and delicate aromas combine to create balanced and unforgettable wines.

The Sérgio & Tiodósio project emerged at the beginning of the opening of this company with the need for bottling, labeling and support in the harvest of CALLUM Wine with the utmost rigor and dedication, being a partnership that continues to this day.
We believe that oenology goes beyond technique, it is a work of proximity with producers, understanding their needs and helping to transform their vision into reality. It is with pride that we continue to walk side by side with Cepa C’alua wines, ensuring that each bottle reflects the dedication and character that make it special.

Winemaker | Cepa C’alua
My professional career has been largely linked to providing assistance and consultancy to producers in the Vinho Verde Region. In 2017, I met Domingos and Sérgio, and they offered me a challenge, to make Callum wine, a variety that was “dormant”. I readily accepted, because on the one hand we could recover this wine heritage, and on the other hand we could work in a different region. The first harvest was very demanding, it was our beginning. Over the years, conditions have improved, the construction of a new winery, the acquisition of equipment and the planting of new vineyards, has allowed us to reach the present day with a unique and distinct wine. I am very pleased to be part of this project, which has gone from a professional perspective to the recognition of a long-standing friendship. Thank you very much.
